POSITION SUMMARY

The Merchant Card Sales Representative is responsible for soliciting Merchant Services through self sourced sales activities and through bank provided referrals. 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Solicit and follow up on businesses for Merchant Services processing through our referral program
  • Call on assigned accounts to maintain existing bankcard processing relationships
  • Assure the profitable pricing of Merchant Relationships
  • Meet established bankcard and POS goals
  • Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports as needed
  • Remain knowledgeable in all phases of Merchant training and operational processes.
  • Selling a variety of point of sale checking, credit/debit card services and other special payment processing services
  • Work independently, prospecting for appointments if necessary, determining prospects needs, negotiating several price points, overcoming objections and closing sales.
  • Provide top quality customer service while looking out for the customer’s best interest.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Maintains a current understanding and adheres to the Reg E, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Customer Identification Policy (CIP), Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR), OFAC regulations, privacy- Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) and Non-public Personal Information (NPPI) regulations.
  • When appropriate, refer customers to other Bank departments for cross sell opportunities
  • Participate in branch promotional programs
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Prerequisites:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED

 

  • High school diploma or GED required, college degree preferred
  • Demonstrated selling and cross-selling skills
  • Excellent written, verbal/nonverbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to utilize personal computers and Windows based programs
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience selling Merchant Card Services
  • In depth knowledge of Merchant Card product and services
  • Proven past performance in meeting and exceeding stated sales objectives
